A Special Day for the Monoposto Club: Mallory 24th May

The first day of our upcoming meeting at Mallory will be an important event in the Club’s year, and an opportunity for Members to meet socially.

This year’s Ray Dackombe Memorial Trophy Meeting will be Round 5 of the Track & Race Cars Magazine Mono Championship, to be held on Sunday 24th May at Mallory Park.

Ray very sadly died last year.  He was a longstanding and key Member of the Club.  His abilities as Paddock Co-ordinator on Race Days contributed in many ways to the Club’s success, and to everyone’s enjoyment of the racing.

The Ray Dackombe Memorial Trophy will be presented at the meeting and a replica trophy will be re-awarded at the Club’s annual Awards function.  This is a racing trophy so is awarded for performance on track. The criteria will be standard “class” points as awarded for both qualifying and race positions, plus fastest race lap. Points will be added up in each class and the driver with the most points will be awarded the Trophy.  Ties will be decided in favour of wins/poles and if still tied, awarded to the leading point scorer of the largest class.

Following the success of the club’s 50th anniversary BBQ at Rockingham we are pleased to announce that the same winning team has volunteered to repeat the event this year at Mallory Park on the evening of the first day's racing.

Tickets will be £6 each for a menu that includes main course (marinaded chicken, pork, sausages, jacket potato & coleslaw) dessert (choice of fruit pies & cream), and coffee.

A tasty vegetarian option will also be available, but please make this clear when reserving your BBQ tickets. For those who were at the annual dinner, be assured that this will be considerably more than 8 pieces of asparagus!!
