| Donington 7 June 2009 "The Driver's View" Version 1: "Rain stopped play..." Version 2: "We arrived on Saturday. Others arrived on Sunday. It rained. We went home. There was much sadness" Yes, I know that's a fairly bleak and cynical view of the meeting, but on the plus side I don't think there was a single Monoposto accident. Hurrah! One more thing, to those that keep a finger on the pulse, and an ear to the ground of professional motorsport: can we, as a club made up by a variety of trades and professions, respond to tenders for circuit overhaul? It's just that I can't help thinking we could have done a far better job of the F1 tunnel, and ours wouldn't have started to dissolve in the rain. Plus it would only cost about £150 to get it done with the money saving grump... err... people that make up the membership. I gather that Silverstone will need a tart up in time for 2010...... See you in August (I can't make the non-championship round, and I'm hoping it doesn't get upgraded to championship status as I need points not non-entries) Tristan Pics: mayang.com, thisisderbyshire.co.uk |
The tunnel works which were responsible for our disappointment. Clearly,
the concept of "the drain" (pictured below) has not reached
the highly paid professionals who design race circuits. |
