| Track and Race Cars Magazine Mono Championship - Positions Going into the Last Two Rounds 4 out of 7 Monoposto Championship Class Titles are now decided, but with 32 points still on offer at Snetterton on 17/18 October, there is still much to play for… Mono 2000 Neil Harrison has a 19 points advantage over the on-form Jeremy Timms, but at first glance it looks comfortable for Neil. However once the drop score position is accounted it’s not so clear. There are many permutations but the crucial equation is that if Jeremy wins and has fastest lap at both Snetterton rounds, with Neil finishing both races in second place, as happened at Croft, then Jeremy will take the title by 1 point…However if Jeremy has a disaster at Snetterton then Tristan Cliffe lurks in third place with a mathematical chance of second. Mono Classic 2000 In Mono Classic it’s a very similar but slightly less tight situation. Russ Giles has a 25 point cushion over late starter Nick Anstruther, but Russ will need to drop scores. Nick’s string of excellent results have already moved him ahead of Jeremy Goodman into second place. The numbers work out that Russ needs the equivalent of two 4th places or better to ensure he takes the title, even if Nick wins twice with fastest laps. Terry Clark could take 3rd if Jeremy’s current marginal luck lets him down at Snetterton. Mono Formula 2000 Congratulations to Graham Read who is the class Champion after a very reliable and consistent season Mono 1800 Peter Bragg has won the Mono 1800 class even after missing Croft, so many congratulations on a very strong performance all year. Behind him Michael Dale is just clear of Jim Timms, and this could go either way for 2nd. Douglas McLay has chance of third if either of these two slip up. Mono 1600 Dave Parkinson has 14 point lead over the consistent Tony Cotton, and again the drop scores position means he can’t afford to make a slip at Snetterton. If Tony wins both rounds with fastest lap then David must gain at least a second and a third place in the two races to win the title. Both are clear of Tony Davies, who could lose 3rd to either of the charging Geoff Fern or Nigel Smith. Mono 1400 Well done Stephen Brookes who has won the Mono 1400 crown, after a very strong season in which he regularly mixed it with the leading 3 Mono 1000 contenders. Mono 1000 Chris Woodhouse tied up this highly competitive class after Silverstone, and has been unbeaten in what has been a brilliant year for him. It’s nip and tuck for second between Darren Freeman and Len Turner. After accounting for drop scores, Darren has the advantage here. Kat Impey has no scores to drop and could take second in the class, but she will really need top results at Snetterton to do it. Click HERE to see the latest points position as a pdf Simon Davey |
