| Key Information
for the 2010 Monoposto Season…
The start of the 2010 season is rapidly approaching, and here is key
information to help you plan what could be one of the best Monoposto seasons
for many years.
You can get the latest 2010 Monoposto Race Calendar
here. Or you can look on the embedded Google calendar
in Startline here. The Regulations
are here.
At present we still need entry fee payments to be made by cheque, but
are working to make credit card payment facilities available as soon as
possible.
2010 Mono Championship Races
The Entry Form for our races at MSVR meetings is now available for download
here.
This form covers races at Brands Indy, Thruxton, Snetterton, Oulton International,
and Silverstone National. You can enter any or all of these meetings
on one entry form and with one total payment if you wish. If you
use one form to enter multiple meetings and provide us with a separate
cheque for each (made out to Monoposto Racing Club and dated at least
a week before the relevant meeting) we will not bank the cheques until
the closing date for each meeting. Alternatively you can send in
a specific entry form and cheque before each meeting in the normal way.
Please get your entries in for MSVR meetings at least a week before the
meeting, also bearing in mind that some of the smaller grids may well
get oversubscribed. When you enter your first MSVR meeting you will
be sent four passes which will be valid for all the MSVR meetings.
You will need to put a photo onto the driver’s pass. Final
Instructions etc for these meetings will be sent by email (or post if
you haven’t got email).
For Mono races at the CSCC and DDMC meetings at Anglesey, Mallory and
Croft you’ll need to complete and send in entry forms and fees for
each meeting in the usual way. Entry forms will be available soon.
The closing dates for CSCC and DDMC meetings will be shown on the entry
forms and will be up to 20 days ahead of the meeting. We will have
to charge you the late entry fee if you miss the deadline because we have
to py the organising clubs. Passes and Final Instructions for these
meetings will be sent out by post prior to each meeting.
Entry forms and fees for all 2010 Mono Championship races should be sent
to the Monoposto Club Administrator at the address shown on the Entry
Form. Entry acknowledgements for all meetings will be sent out by
email, (or post if you haven’t got email).
To race with Monoposto you need to join the Club and Register for the
Championship. The form to do this is here.
You can sample Monoposto Racing by joining as a Guest member for two races,
form here,
and then later upgrade to Full membership if you wish to do more with
us.
The refund policy for all the 2010 Mono Championship rounds is the same:
provided you cancel in writing (email is acceptable) at least three full
days before the meeting you get a full refund. If you cancel any
time later than this there is no refund. No entries will be accepted
for any meeting less than three days before the event.
2010 Non-Championship Monoposto Races
We have arranged for three non-championship races which can be entered
by Full or Guest members of the Club, as follows:
Spa 2/3/4 July. This is the Spa Classic Meeting
run by experienced Spa organisers, Roadbook. We have two 25 minute
practice sessions and two 25 minutes races for an entry fee of £475.
Two drivers can share a car, with one practice/race each, or you can enter
just one practice/race for £240. We have up to 40 grid places available
but they are being rapidly taken up, so if you want to race at this legendary
circuit then please contact the Mono Club Administrator quickly (address
etc below). The entry form can be downloaded
here. We are sharing the grid with French Zetec competitors,
who expect to enter about 15 cars. Roadbook’s website, including
details about the meeting is on www.roadbook.be
Mallory 25 July. This is a single practice session
and race in our “traditional” slot with the Morgan Sports
Car Club. The entry fee is a bargain at £145. Last year’s
event was very enjoyable, and this year it has special bite as the Mono
Championship race at Mallory is next up, just a month later…it’s
an ideal way to launch into the second half or the season. Entries
for this meeting will need to made to MSCC, rather than to Monoposto.
Silverstone GP Circuit 1/2 October. We are very
pleased to have been offered this opportunity to race at the prestigious
Britcar 24 hours meeting, on the Grand Prix circuit which we have been
told will be the layout as used for the 2010 British Grand Prix.
The detail of this meeting has changed since it was first announced, and
we now have two races. There will be a 20 minute qualifying session,
and 20 minute race on the afternoon of Friday 1 October.
We will then have a second 20 minute race in the “prime time”
mid day slot on Saturday 2 October, before the start of the 24 hour race
itself. This could be a real opportunity for you to impress potential
sponsors at the revitalised home of British motor racing – or just
enjoy another classic Grand Prix circuit with Monoposto. The Monoposto
races at this event have been nominated as the Ray Dackombe Memorial Trophy
races – a fitting choice at Ray’s favourite track.
We’ve been able to negotiate a very attractive deal on costs for
the event, so book your time off work for Friday 1 October and get your
entries in as soon as the forms come out! Entries for this meeting
will need to be sent to the Club Administrator.
Club Membership & Championship Registration
These are coming in thick and fast, but please don’t delay sending
yours in, because processing these now helps even-out the Admin load before
we start processing entries for the first race.
If you raced with us last year we will normally allocate you the same
competition number, but if you want a change please contact the Club Administrator
to see what’s still available (number 1 has gone…) We
will be sending out Club Yearbooks, including the 2010 Mono Championship
Regulations to all members later this month, once the MSA gives the final
go-ahead on the Regulations.
It’s very pleasing to report that we have already welcomed several
new members into the Club this year. Remember particularly if you
are new to racing that the Mono Forum can be a good place to make contact
with and get advice from other members. Also the Club Administrator
can put you in touch with sources of advice. Several Club members
have already provided really useful help of this type already –
so many thanks to them.
Awards & Dinner Dance and AGM
The Club’s AGM will be held on Saturday 20th February at Tewkesbury
Park Hotel, with refreshments available at 2.15pm, before the meeting.
This is an opportunity for all members to learn more about the running
of the Club, so please attend ifyou can. Remember, the constitution dictates
that you have to be a member if you want to vote at the AGM. There will
be an open discussion forum after the meeting.
The Annual Awards & Dinner Dance will also held on the same day at
Tewkesbury Park Hotel at 7.00 for 7.30pm. The event is completely
sold out with 110 people attending, so if you haven’t already booked
your tickets with the Club Administrator – sorry but it’s
too late now.
It’s promising to be a very enjoyable evening, and the start of
a very exciting season of Monoposto racing. See you there!
