| Fuel Revisited Some months ago Martin Cliffe provided an extensive monograph about racing fuels. Tristan has now followed this up by providing a further essay in pictures showing how he and Andrew operate Martin's theoretical comments in practice, and here it is. We have no idea where it originates from, and we're not sure which way round Andrew and Tristan are as Meek and Mild. We think the racing motorist is Phil Moore, and we also fully expect the Dallara to appear at Thruxton bearing the name Bertha.
PS Thanks to Tristan for the scans. PPS Google, of course, provides the answers. Ionicus, according to Wikipaedia, was the pen name of Joshua Armitage (26 September 1913 – 1998). He drew the covers for the Penguin editions of some P. G. Wodehouse books. Since I quite like the above cartoon I will forgive him that, even though Wodehouse is to many people less funny than anthrax and had an "allegedley controversial" second world war. Ionicus also contributed to Punch. |
