Oulton Park Saturday 11 September 2010 - Quick Report

Heavy overnight rain and humidity worthy of Singapore greeted early arrivals at Oulton. The track was still wet for the 2000/Classic group at 8.30 but the choice between wets and slicks was a fine one.

In the racing itself, after an indicent that ended with rival Jeremy Timms parked up, Tristan Cliffe won the 2 litre battle followed by returnee Mark Harrison. Malcom Scott continued his sucessful run having been promoted after Ferrari GT3 Team Manager Ray Rowan was demoted by 10 seconds for a startline issue.

Classic was won by Russ Giles (well deserved after a superb drive went less than fully rewarded at Mallory), ahead of Jeremy Goodman and a delighted first podium for Graham Probyn. Where's Peter Venn, you ask? On his way home having ended practice with a hole in the XE block of the Anson.

Having a bit longer in bed, the 1000/1400/1600/1800 had a dry practice. The race had an early safety car period. Unsurprisingly Chris Woodhouse won the 1000 class, ahead of Stephen Brooks. Third overall was Peter Bragg in his 1800 Mygale, leading home the works hire Medina Van Diemen of usual British GT3 Mosler pilot Martin Short. 1400's Geoff Fern was next, and BTCC commentator Ben Edwards won 1600 in his Median Van Diemen, with 1600 legend David Parkinson second.
