| The Parkinson Line.....at Brands Hatch The 1600 grid was better than normal with eight cars entered though I never saw Michael Wilkinson in his Renault so guess he never arrived. Qualifying Jeremy Timms took pole by a substantial margin from Nigel Davers, Yours
truly, Richard Evans, Dane Catanzaro, Matt Jordan and Joe Venor. It was the first time on the circuit for the majority of the competitors but I really enjoyed it. An opinion that appeared to be shared by almost everyone. Race Though Jeremy started the race he didn’t get in a lap before the car expired. This left Nigel and myself to fight it out for the win, accompanied for most of the race by Michael Dale. It was a brilliant race with the three of us battling for the full distance before Nigel took the win with me in second. Matt Jordan took a good third from race rusty Richard Evans who was followed home by Dane Catanzaro and Joe Venor. The Baking Grand Prix was held at this meeting and once again I offered my services as the Judge in spite of being ignored last year. Needless to say I was passed over again this year and the judging went ahead without my expert opinion. Nevertheless I did try to sample all of the entries though got one or two black looks as I filled my plate with a piece of each of the entries. It was not greed but professional interest. That’s the story I’m sticking to anyway. Sunday qualifying was identical to Saturday but with a missing Jeremy. The Sunday race was also almost a repeat with Nigel, myself and Michael Dale in his FF2000 in close contact for most of the race. Nigel took the win with me fortunate to take second after a spin on the oil from Richards engine. A costly single meeting for him with the expense of rebuilding a blown engine. Third was Matt Jordan taking his second podium of the weekend followed by Joe. Dane also had a problem and failed to finish.
