| The Parkinson Line.....at Anglesey Six drivers were in the programme but only five were involved over the weekend as Michael Wilkinson once again failed to turn up. One of the five was a new guy called Matt Walters driving a Formula Vauxhall that he’d sourced from Dermot. It was his first ever meeting and he had his problems in both qualifying and racing but said that he’d enjoyed it. He only competed on Saturday due to a prior engagement but advised that he will be at Snetterton. Matt is from Sheffield so it’s good to get another northern boy in the club. Another one of the five was Jim Timms out in his faithful Lola due to an engine blow up at Brands with his 1800. It was good to see him back. He’s one of the better southerners. Saturday qualifying put Nigel Davers on pole from Jim, myself, Eddie Guest and new boy Matt. I had a misfire throughout the weekend. No excuses you understand but thanks to Simon Davey for his assistance. The race positions finished exactly the same as qualifying other than Matt Walters failed to finish. Not much to say about the race from my point of view due to the misfire and having the wrong tyres for a dry track. I was talking to Flavio Fern over the weekend. He tells me that he’s sold the hospitality unit, that he purchased some weeks ago, without ever using it. I understand that the committee responsible for the Olympic organisation suddenly realised that they’d forgotten about a venue for the synchronised knitting event. Geoff’s unit has solved this problem and left them additional space. Lord Coe was looking a bit ill last night on the TV though when he announced that the forecast budget had risen by another 2.7 billion. Speaking of Flavio. See photo. Yes, it’s Geoff plugging his power cable in. Joannie was on guard outside armed with an hair dryer. Sunday qualifying was Nigel from myself, still with a miss fire, then Jim Timms followed by Eddie Guest. The race ended for me quite quickly after a shunt on the start line. Finishing order was Nigel, Jim and Eddie. Snetterton should hopefully provide a bigger field as Richard Evans is hoping to get Renault rebuilt and ready. Jim Timms plans to run the Lola again and Matt Walters should be out. Myself and Nigel will be there and I heard that a new man will be out in the old Jackie Lockyer car. Apology: The club can in no way condone the blatant latutudism practised by Mr Parkinson wherein he professes a superiority of Northerners over Southerners. Especially when everybody knows the world rotates around Dudley. (Asst ed) Pics by DP and Internet
